INSTITUTE
FOR CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Institute for Condensed
Matter Physics was founded in September, 1990 on the base of
the Lviv Division of Statistical Physics of the Institute for
Theoretical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Number of researchers
- 74,
Post graduate students - 8,
Total number of employees - 97.
RESEARCH ACTIVITY
The Institute performs
research on modern problems of statistical physics and condensed
matter theory in the following fields:
- mathematical problems of statistical physics;
- physics of liquids, solutions and melts
of electrolytes;
- soft matter physics, physics of colloids;
- phase transitions theory;
- quantum thory of solids;
- strongly correlated electronic systems;
- physics of metals and alloys;
- theory of high temperature superconductivity;
- theory of nonequilibrium processes in
plasmas and liquids;
- theory of magnets, ferroelectrics, H-bonded and
disordered systems;
- computer modelling of physical processes;
- relativistic mechanics of interacting
particles;
- physical and chemical processes in fuel
containing masses in the conditions of Chornobyl's "Shelter";
- theory of heterogenous catalysis;
- surface phenomena.
PUBLISHING ACTIVITY
Since 1992, the Institute issues the quarterly Condensed Matter Physics
journal and publishes preprints of research papers. Condensed
Matter Physics and ICMP Preprints are issued
in print and in the World Wide Web:

CONFERENCES
The Institute regularly
organizes international conferences, symposiums and workshops.
For example, during last years
were held.
For the interested parties the Institute proposes joint investigations
in the above mentioned fields, particularly, concerning the
development of analytical methods of statistical physics; theory
of equilibrium and nonequilibrium properties of solids, liquids
and amorphous systems; microscopic theory of phase transitions
for the wide class of physical systems; theory of surface phenomena
in liquids; development of new methods for calculation of electronic
structure for metals and alloys; description of the physical
and chemical processes in the nuclear "magma" interacting with
water in the conditions of Chornobyl's object "Shelter", etc.
