Title: THE FOURTH UKRAINIAN-POLISH MEETING ON FERROELECTRICITY. 15 - 19 JUNE, 1998, DNIPROPETROVSK, UKRAINE
Condensed Matter Physics, 1999, vol. 2, No. 4(20), p. 589-591, English

This issue contains Proceedings of the Forth Ukrainian-Polish Meeting on Ferroelectricity held in Dnipropetrovsk 15-19 June, 1998. Such joint international conferences devoted to the problems of phase transitions and ferroelectricity have been carried out by the ukrainian and polish scientists during the last decade.

The official organizers of the 4-th Ukrainian-Polish meeting were the Ukrainian and Polish National Academies of Sciences, Ukrainian Ministry of Education, Dnipropetrovsk State University, Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the NAS of Ukraine, Wroclaw University, Department of Science of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administration. The meeting was financially supported by the Ukrainian Mobile Communication company and was personally organised by:

Chairmen of the Meeting:
Prisnyakov V.F. (Dnipropetrovsk State University, Ukraine), Czapla Z. (University of Wroclaw, Poland)
Organizing Committee:

Members:
Bochkova T.M. (Dnipropetrovsk State University, Ukraine), Flerova S.A. (Uzhgorod State University, Ukraine), Shvaika A.M. (Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the NAS of Ukraine, Lviv, Ukraine), Vlokh O.G. (Institute of Physical Optics, Lviv, Ukraine).
Over two hundred participants (220) from Ukraine, Poland and other European countries submitted the results of their scientific investigations which were presented at 27 plenary lectures and on 78 posters. Actually, 65 scientists from Ukraine and 15 scientists from Poland participated in the conference. Among the most important issues discussed were the following: theory of ferroelectricity, critical phenomena and phase transitions, systems with incommensurate phases and hydrogen bonds, domains and defects, low-dimensional systems, disordered systems and glass-like states in ferroelectrics, ferroelectricity and high-temperature superconductivity.

The next Polish-Ukrainian meeting on Phase Transitions and Ferroelectric Physics will be organized by Polish scientists in Poland in the year 2000.
