A satellite meeting – Planer-Smoluchowski Soft Matter (PSSM) Workshop on Liquid Crystals and Colloidal Dispersions to be held in Lviv in June, 22, 2009. The PSSM Workshop is organized in conjunction with the conference "Statistical Physics: Modern Trends and Applications" that starts on the next day after the Workshop. An exhibition about the life and scientific activities of M.M.Bogolyubov
An exhibition about the life and scientific activities of M.M.Bogolyubov will be presented during the Conference. This exhibition is intended to be mobile and to act during June-September, 2009, allowing to spread more information about this outstanding personality to large audience in various cities of Ukraine. The organizers of the exhibition plan to publish a collection of photographs and memoirs about M.M.Bogolyubov as well. We address to all organizations and private persons who possess any materials (photo, audio/video, hand-written or archival ones) about M.M.Bogolyubov and wish to help in the organization of the exhibition to contact with the Organizing Committee. All suggestions and recommendations concerning the exhibition are also very welcome.
On December 11, 2008, the President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko issued a decree № 1154/2008 "On commemoration of the 100-th anniversary of M.Bogolyubov"
By the decree, the Goverment of Ukraine together with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has to elaborate a plan of actions directed to commemoration of the 100-th anniversary of Academician M.M.Bogolyubov, including, in particular, the following:
- organization of scientific conferences, meetings and round tables in May-September, 2009
- organization of a mobile exhibition about the life and scientific activities of M.M.Bogolyubov
- publication of a collection of photographs and memoirs about M.M.Bogolyubov
- producing and putting into circulation a commemorative coin and a commemorative post stamp.
The Kyiv City State Administration has to mount a memorial tablet to Academician M.M.Bogolyubov on one of the buildings of T.Shevchenko Kyiv National University and to erect a monument at the territory of M.M.Bogolyubov Institute of Theoretical Physics.
